报告摘要:
The detection of gravitational waves by LIGO and Virgo in the culmination of a decades-long quest confirms directly a prediction of Einstein based on his classical theory of general relativity. Naturally, one may wonder what effects are if gravitational waves are quantized and whether they can be detectable. When gravity is quantized, there inevitably exist quantum gravitational vacuum fluctuations which induce quadrupole moments in gravitationally polarizable objects and produce, in close analogy to the Casimir-Polder forces, quantum corrections to the classical Newtonian interactions such as those between polarizable objects, and a polarizable object and a boundary. In this talk, we review our recent calculations of these forces.
