报告摘要:


      Since the first experimental realization of synthetic spin-orbit (SO) coupling induced by a pair of Raman beams in a Rb Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC), SO coupled quantum gases have emerged as one of the most active frontiers in cold-atom research. SO coupling has been realized in both bosonic and fermionic atoms. Various theoretical models based on the Raman process have been proposed and are predicted to give rise to a variety of rich many-body quantum phases. I will talk about a simple model with spin and orbit angular momentum (SOAM) coupling in a spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensate, where three internal atomic states are Raman coupled by a pair of co-propagating Laguerre-Gaussian beams. Focusing on a regime where the single-particle ground state is nearly three-fold degenerate, it is shown that the weak interatomic interaction in the condensate produces a rich phase diagram, and that a many-body Rabi oscillation between two quantum phases can be induced by a sudden quench of the quadratic Zeeman shift. Some features of the quantum phase transition and spin textures have been observed in recent two experimental groups in Wuhan and Taipei.


报告人简介:

    张云波,山西大学理论物理研究所教授,博士生导师,主要从事超冷量子气体的理论研究。1998年中国科学院物理研究所获得博士学位,曾作为洪堡学者(Humboldt Fellow)在德国凯萨斯劳特大学从事玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚系统中隧道效应方面的研究,在芬兰图尔库大学做超冷原子气体中的拓扑激发方面的博士后研究工作。山西省学术技术带头人,山西省研究生教育优秀导师。主持多项国家自然科学基金面上项目,迄今在国内外重要刊物发表论文70多篇(其中Phys. Rev.系列50余篇)。在旋量玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚体拓扑性质和一维冷原子气体可积于关联临界性质等方面取得重要结果,多次获得教育部和山西省科学技术奖。
